No — with rollers out of the track, the door's weight isn't controlled, and pulling on it can bring it down suddenly. Leave it in place, don't disconnect the opener release, and keep the area clear until a technician secures it.
Can a badly bent track really be repaired, or do I need a new one?
Gentle bends can usually be straightened on-site. If the steel has kinked or creased, that section is replaced - a creased track will keep catching rollers no matter how carefully it's massaged back. Ask the provider to show you the track and quote both options.
I bumped the door with my car. Is the panel ruined too?
